DetectaDrug is here because we have been affected by the use of Meth in our own family. Over many years  it has slowly torn us apart, destroyed relationships, my daily life is worrying about my childs future, when he truly believes there is nothing wrong with him.

Are you the mother, father, brother, sister or friend of an addict; meth, heroin, marijuana, pcp, alcohol, over the counter drugs – pick your poison, it doesn’t matter which one they are killing themselves slowly with, you get to stand there, like an ineffectual ghost unable to punch the badness away, to stop the slow death, the spread of the disease that is tearing our families apart.

I cry all the way to work, spend may “days off” at court appearances, my nights at home alone in a solitary vigil thinking the next knock at the door is the police.

Have you been through a raid, standing in your own lounge room wrapped in nothing but a doona as the police go through your house, opening every cupboard and bag, looking into your life and taking it apart piece by piece?

Do you hide it from your family members or your friends?

Do you say the name of the drug out loud – it took me years to actually do that. We used to refer to it as the “bad stuff”. It’s Meth, Ice, Crank, its all the same, it destroys our loved ones. It doesn’t matter if they are 12 or 55 or older.

We need to educate parents and our kids and our friends. The ultimate goal is to get it through to them, don’t touch it #notevenonce #stopmeth
